Unlock The iPhone 4S, But Not For Long!

Last week a video surfaced on YouTube of someone showing how they could unlock a locked iPhone 4S to any network they desired, this turned out to be a fact, but as stated in the video (recently added) the unlock will only last for a a short period of time.

Thanks to @musclenerd for pointing out this fact, there is a lot of false hope around and it’s highly recommended to follow the iPhone Dev’s – we all want an iPhone 4S jailbreak and hopefully will will not be waiting much longer, then we can also hope that @musclenerd and the other Devs can create an unlock for people who are stuck on a locked network

iOS 5.1 – To Feature A Smarter Siri?!?

With the up and coming release of iOS 5.1 – What would you most like to see improved? There has been a flurry of rumours that Siri will be a few IQ points smarter – We have all been frustrated by the lack of requests you can give the personal assistant, for Apple to continue using Siri as a marketing tool by keeping it just to the iPhone 4s, they need to improve on the capabilities insanely.

Another feature that many of us, including MriOSDevices is hoping to see the ability to open an Application with your voice, we have shown you in a previous post how to use the contacts feature to enable basic voice activation of applications. Directly using Siri to do this would be great for times when you cannot use you hands, such as driving, exercising, on the phone etc…

Let us know your thoughts on 5.1 firmware and Siri improvements, do you welcome these? would you like to see Siri ported to another iDevice or even OS?

Gmail’s “GFail” Is Back In The AppStore

A little while ago, MriOSDevices posted about the brand new Gmail app being in the AppStore, It was short lived as there were lots of bugs. Usually a developer will just issue an update however the fact that the world’s leading search management group had created an app with so much wrong with they, they decided to pull it from the Store (see photo of bug below)

MriOSDevices original post is here

What do you think of the App so far, did you download the original app before it was pulled?

iOS 5.0.2 release next week?

According to various sources Apple will be releasing iOS 5.0.2 next week. The update is expected to bring new voice commands to Siri, and improve the overall battery life on the recently released iPhone 4S.

Last week Apple released iOS 5.0.1 and many iPhone 4S users were hoping that the battery issues would be fully resolved, that was the case for some users but others were left disgruntled.

Apple’s 15″ Ultra Thin Notebook – Released In March 2012?

There has been lots of reports recently about a 15″ MacBook Air styled laptop being released. The latest is that it will be released with a SSD in March 2012.

It will be likely that it will replace the 15″ MacBook Pro line which was updated just a few weeks back with graphics card upgrades and a processor upgrade.

It will either have Dual-Core Sandy or Ivy Bridge processors and Intel or ATI graphics cards.

It will have fierce competition against the PC market but will succeed as many people will use the bigger screen for productivity on the go.

MriOSDevices will keep you updated on this and all Apple’s goodness.

Have a great day!

MriOSDevices Reason To Think Why Job’s Wanted His Own “Apple Sim Carrier”

As the title suggests, there are always things we will never know about a person. There are snippets of someones life that always emerge after their death, especially someone so high profile and private like Steve Job’s.

The first fact that might surprise you is that Job’s wanted to make the iPad first, his idea was to bring a device to do everything apart from call people, at the time Job’s was working on iPod’s and came to the initial conclusion that a portable tablet would be the next step to expand the iPod market.

This leads me on to the next thing Job’s kept quiet to millions, he also wanted to create an “Apple Carrier” maybe he thought about this when the iPad was fresh in his mind – How would the iPad connect to the internet when the iPad wasn’t a phone that had 3G after all?

Do you think Apple would still venture into this market, It’s a very profitable market where Apple has a great position to explore, what would the other Carriers think about this?

Amazon Cuts Price Of “2010″ Apple TV – New Device Coming Soon?

Amazon have recently cuts the price of Apple’s Apple TV device from $99 to $89. It isn’t much of a saving but every penny helps near Christmas!

Apple normally cuts the prices of devices before releasing newer models and this would a great time as its nearly the holidays and many people are doing their Christmas shopping around this time! :D

Its certain that the new Apple TV will have 1080p playback and the new Dual-Core A5 chip found in the iPhone and iPad.

Do Amazon know something we don’t?

MriOSDevices will keep you up with all Apple’s goodness! ($89 link)

Have a great day! ;)

Security Protocol Hacked, Siri Working on ALL devices

We have been waiting for this for sometime, Siri has successfully been ported to the other iDevices. There is even talk about sending it across to Android devices.

The only downfall in this hack is you will need your UUID connected to a developer account to enable the function – on a plus side, Siri can be incorporated into developers apps! this is going to open up a huge market for Cydia and the Jailbreak Scene. I am sure Apple planned to do this eventually but looks like the Jailbreak scene is taking a step forward as per usual!

Apple Seem To Be Addressing FAKE Jailbreak Apps

Over the past few days, Twitter users have been reporting FAKE Jailbreak apps on the AppStore, the developers of these apps hide what the actual apps do by adding a sentence in the information section between paragraphs upon paragraphs of legit jailbreak information. @musclenerd just tweeted that one of the apps has been removed fortunately.

MriOSDevices reminds everyone to be careful as theses apps are prices around the £6.99 – $9.99 price mark – All jailbreaks that are made are FREE and from a select few devs based at the iPhone Dev Team & Chonic Dev Team - they will only ask for a donation to support their work

If you come across an apparent “Jailbreak” app on the AppStore we can guarantee that it will not jailbreak or help you jailbreak your device. Apple has always been against this
