iPad 2 for 399$ at TJ Maxx?

iPad2 for $399 at TJ Maxx is real

According to several sources, the American retailer TJ Maxx will have the iPad 2 for 399$ in-stores tomorrow. Last year, Steve Jobs said that TJ Maxx was not an official reseller of Apple products, so the sale is in doubt.

However, by a picture shown to your left of a TJ Maxx receipt from @idannyocean on twitter, the sale does appear to be real. The 399$ TJ Maxx is clearly shown at the bottom right-hand corner. We will be following up on this as new updates come in. Will you be getting yourself an iPad 2 if the sale comes through?

*update: The iPad 2s are low in stock and are not available in every retail store, but if you can find yourself one, then the sale is real.

iPhone 4S Stock Limited

The brand new iPhone 4S has been out for a while now and all the Apple Fanboys have been going crazy on launch day.

A major component has stopped supply of the 4S, but there is no confirmation of what this component is.

The 4S has been estimated the best selling phone in the 3rd Quarter and the 3GS being 2nd.

So, if you want the 4S and Siri go and pick a 4S up quickly!

UltraSn0w Unlock For iPhone 4S On Its Way!

MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team recently posted something interesting on his Twitter about the iPhone 4S unlock . According to the brain-member of the dev team, iPhone 4S unlock will be much easier than the iPhone 4 unlock which couldn’t be achieved by the team.

MuscleNerd posted the screenshot and said it is very promising that there will be a unlock very soon.

This will only work on the 4S and not the 4 as it couldn’t be Unlocked by the DevTeam.

The Devteam will report on this soon so stay tuned for that!

Mac OS X Lion Already Has Emoji!

In iOS, Emoji is a keyboard that allows you to send custom Emoticons to other iPhone users in iMessage or other applications, you can enable this through Settings, go to keyboard in the General section.

If you want to access this on your Mac, press Command, Option and T together and select the Emoticon you like. See the illustration below to help you with Command-Option-T.

VMWare Now Allows VMs Of Snow Leopard And Leopard!

With the release of OS X Lion back in the summer, Apple updated their licensing agreement to allow the virtualization of Mac OS X under programs such as VMWare Fusion and Parallels. This functionality allows you to deploy different sandboxed installations of OS X on a single machine. This change, however, appeared to only apply to OS X Lion.

So, when the Lion optimized version of VMWare Fusion was released, it allowed users to run additional virtualized copies of OS X Lion, but continued to prohibit running older versions of Mac OS X

Things have now changed, Macworld have posted that the new VMWare Fusion now supports it.

Well that’s good isn’t it?

Hidden Notification Tweak For iTunes (How To)

With all the recent hidden tweaks found in iOS 5 software, developers have been scouring other apps to find such tweaks, one dev found a pretty cool notification icon in iTunes. It shows you the song currently playing, although a minor tweak.

It goes to show you what we could see in the future from OS X updates…….

Give it a try yourself, we at MriOSDevices love it!

Quit iTunes.

Open Terminal (Found in Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities).

Type / Copy and paste the following command:

defaults write com.apple.dock itunes-notifications -bool TRUE;killall Dock

done….. but wait, you can also add the iTunes logo to the notification by entering the command below!

defaults write com.apple.dock notification-always-show-image -bool TRUE;killall Dock

Open iTunes and take a look!

At anytime you feel you do not like this, you can uninstall it with the following commands below, simple!Quit iTunes.

Open Terminal.

Type / Copy and paste the following two lines…..

defaults delete com.apple.dock itunes-notifications
defaults delete com.apple.dock notification-always-show-image;killall Dock

Unlock The iPhone 4S, But Not For Long!

Last week a video surfaced on YouTube of someone showing how they could unlock a locked iPhone 4S to any network they desired, this turned out to be a fact, but as stated in the video (recently added) the unlock will only last for a a short period of time.

Thanks to @musclenerd for pointing out this fact, there is a lot of false hope around and it’s highly recommended to follow the iPhone Dev’s – we all want an iPhone 4S jailbreak and hopefully will will not be waiting much longer, then we can also hope that @musclenerd and the other Devs can create an unlock for people who are stuck on a locked network

iOS 5.1 – To Feature A Smarter Siri?!?

With the up and coming release of iOS 5.1 – What would you most like to see improved? There has been a flurry of rumours that Siri will be a few IQ points smarter – We have all been frustrated by the lack of requests you can give the personal assistant, for Apple to continue using Siri as a marketing tool by keeping it just to the iPhone 4s, they need to improve on the capabilities insanely.

Another feature that many of us, including MriOSDevices is hoping to see the ability to open an Application with your voice, we have shown you in a previous post how to use the contacts feature to enable basic voice activation of applications. Directly using Siri to do this would be great for times when you cannot use you hands, such as driving, exercising, on the phone etc…

Let us know your thoughts on 5.1 firmware and Siri improvements, do you welcome these? would you like to see Siri ported to another iDevice or even OS?
