Two hackers, @joe012594 & @cooldayr2 have edited the Carrier Settings on the T-Mobile USA iPhone 5 after noticing the speed decreasing it was having. T-Mobile has recently updated the settings to include better battery performance and the addition of Visual Voicemail. However, that has plummeted data speeds!

There is the speed difference after the edited carrier was applied, but it will obviously depend on your area. You should get an increase though!

Before you upgrade, please back up your iPhone fully and then proceed. No jailbreak is required! Below, is the instructions for installing it.

Since many unlocked iPhone 5 users report weakened signal on the refarmed 4G HSPA+ and many iPhone users (unlocked or official T-Mobile versions) report slower data speeds, I have done many hours for many days doing research on what could be done to fix the issue. After partnering with @cooldayr2, we both have come up with the best possible solution to this issue. Below is a fix we have provided for all iPhone 5 users on the T-Mobile network. This will not take away any features added by the official carrier update nor does it require a jailbreak, however, we have made user friendly for both jailbroken and non-jailbroken users. Non-jailbroken users:

1.       Plug your iPhone 5 into iTunes and backup the device so you won’t lose anything.

2.      In the device itself, tap the “Settings” app and navigate to “General  > Reset  > Erase all content and Settings”

3.      Once you have done that, the iPhone will auto reboot.

4.      Download the hacked carrier update here:http://dc372.4shared.com/download/WF0uqJL-/TMobile_US_iPhone_Hack.ipcc?tsid=20130511-014618-1518f967

5.      Once downloaded, your iPhone will boot up into iTunes. Before you do ANYTHING, make sure to decline any and all prompts to update carrier settings. Just choose to “Restore from backup” and let it run.

6.      Once your iPhone has booted up once again, it will place all of your personal content back into the Phone. While it’s doing this we’re going to go ahead and enable iTunes to except custom carrier bundles, if it’s not already.

7.      Windows users, you will need to open command prompt and type the following and enter it in:

64 bit:cd “C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes”  then type:  iTunes.exe /setPrefInt carrier testing 1

32 bit:cd “C:\Program Files\iTunes”  then type:  iTunes.exe /setPrefInt carrier testing 1

Mac users you will need to open terminal and type the following and enter it in:

Mac:defaults write com.apple.itunes carrier-testing -bool true

8.      After this has successfully been entered in, click on the tab for your iPhone 5 and click “Update” or “Check For Update” while holding down the Alt / Optionkey for Mac users and the Shift key for Windows users. Navigate to where you downloaded the hacked carrier update file named “TMobile_US_iPhone.ipcc,” and select it then click Open.

9.      The carrier update should now successfully be installed. Restart your iPhone 5 for any changes to take effect.

10.   If you encounter any problems or wish to revert back just download the file below and repeat the above steps only with the default file instead.

Jailbroken Users:

2.      Unarchive the files and copy the file name “overrides_N41_N42.pri” then navigate to var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundles/TMobile_US.bundle and paste it into the folder replacing the original .pri file.

3.      Reboot your device for changes to take effect.

4.      If you encounter any problems or wish to revert back just download the file below and repeat the above steps only with the default file instead.

Today, I’ll review the Beacon Audio The Phoenix bluetooth speaker. Big thanks to MobileFun for sending this out for review.

The Phoenix is an amazing Bluetooth speaker, with its amazing 8 hours of playback time from a single charge and the perfect sound it produces. The Phoenix uses bluetooth to play the music cable free, which is the way to go now as everything now has bluetooth capabilities!

However, if your device doesn’t have bluetooth or you cannot be bothered to pair it all the time, you can use a AUX Cable which just plugs straight into your headphone jack on your device. This cable is included and that is a major plus!

As soon as you unbox The Phoenix, you can tell it’s a premium piece of equipment! Beacon have spent time and lots of energy into making it look good, feel good and stylish enough for young folk like me to carry about on my travels.

This small package really does throw out some great sound, it has awesome bass and very crisp vocals, it’s just the perfect small speaker! It’s in the same price range as the Veho M4 we reviewed a while back but The Phoenix sounds so much better!

Today, I’ll be reviewing KAVAJ’s Milano Case for iPad. Thank you to KAVAJ for sending this out for review, it means a lot.

KAVAJ, as a company, are premium. Everything from their products to their website, it just looks professional and that’s great! This case is no except, the KAVAJ Milano is one of the best cases I have ever reviewed on MriOSDevices.

The Milano is made out of premium Leather, this is luxury, not anything rubbish that you can find elsewhere. It has the premium smell that is known with Leather shows that it’s the real deal. It’s really good!

Your iPad will be extra safe if you put your iPad into it, it has lots of padding and it feels secure when the latch is closed. This is something that cannot be said for all cases.

The KAVAJ Milano will fit all iPad model from iPad 2 to 4th Generation as the design hasn’t changed much. There is also a place for your business card that you can whip out if you bump into someone who’s interested in your business etc.

This case has a business feel to it, especially that is has a space for your business card. It would look amazing with your briefcase in a meeting! I think KAVAJ have done well developing this and I give it 10/10. For more information about this case, click here and tell us what you think below.

After years of waiting, Twitter for Mac has finally been updated!

Twitter for Mac has received many new features, and they will be featured below.

Today we’re announcing a few improvements to Twitter for Mac:

• Photos: It’s easier than ever to share photos. Simply click the camera icon in the lower-left corner of the Tweet compose box, and choose a photo to share. If you prefer, you can still drag and drop photos from the desktop.
• Retina display support: Now Twitter is even more vibrant and detailed on the highest resolution Mac notebooks. With this update, Tweets will be clearer and sharper, creating a more vivid experience.
• 14 more languages: In addition to English, Twitter for Mac now supports Dutch, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, and Turkish.

Along with these updates, Twitter for Mac offers keyboard shortcuts, support for multiple accounts and timelines, and other features that you’ve come to love.

For smartphone vendors it’s been a hugely busy and intensive few years involving keeping up with their opposing rival companies and their new products. Up until now, this ‘race’ has deluded itself into the inevitable subject of specifications. Smartphones comprise of a plethora of components these days, all of which are usually supplied to the smartphone industry in awe of getting the most up-to-date and sophisticated components into the biggest selling phones. Over the years it’s been fascinating to observe and be a part of the aforementioned components (e.g. processors, displays & RAM) improving and getting more comprehensive, making our pocket computers more powerful and usable than, for many of us, our first computers. It’s definitely apparent that the innovation of the smartphone has changed the way we access information online, but has the experience we have got, reached a point where it cannot get any better?

The recent release of the Galaxy S4 by Samsung directly represents that our focus on specifications of our smartphones is becoming quickly diminished. It’s clear that we (as consumers) are awaiting the exciting news of some new innovations, which change the way we use our smartphones to another level. From analysing the release of the Galaxy S4; I, among many was slightly underwhelmed by the technical data which came paired with it. There’s no doubt that it was of a ‘high-end’ notion, but there wasn’t anything unprecedented about the specs which really engaged anybody into it. With this in mind, I asked myself why there was such a following and interest in Samsung’s new flagship phone. I considered the Omni-present competition they have with Apple and whether people were interested in seeing what the opposition have to comeback at the appreciated iPhone 5. But that just didn’t reside well, such events will occur so long as Apple continue to manufacture their revolutionary device. My main interest regarding the Galaxy S4 was the unprecedented and innovative new features Samsung released alongside their handset. These were: the eye-sensitive scrolling and the fact that video can paused when the phone detects that your face has turned away from the device. These among many other interesting features of the Galaxy S4 are almost futuristic to the consumer.

 
This is down to a couple of reasons. It’s mainly due to the fact that we have become lured in the world of specifications; which phone has the highest pixel density or the most cores on its processor. But while this is all very exciting, it’s clear that that the specifications on the Galaxy S4 don’t surpass those on last years smartphones by a long stretch. Many have referred the Galaxy S4’s similarities to it being the ‘Galaxy S3S’. The fact of the matter is, smartphones have become dangerously close to the specifications of some desktop machines that are still on sale today. Until the technology moves on in this area of consumer electronics, I don’t think that smartphone technology has much further to go any time soon.

 
The release of the Galaxy S4 has definitely clocked as a ‘turning point’ in my mind, which shows the path on which other smartphone vendors will be forced to take to allow their phones to stand up in commercial meeting. It’s clear that the new innovations in the smartphone market will be more focused on making the user’s life easier when using their device for day-to-day tasks. It’s nice to see a good amount of intelligence on Samsung’s part in creating the Galaxy S4, which is why it will probably be one of their best selling phones on the market.
