So we have had the iPhone 4s for a few weeks now, everyone has had time to understand what Apple did (or didn’t do)
Here is our review of the iPhone 4s,
What’s new
So the exterior of the box is pretty much the same, they have removed the black on the top of the box so it’s just white on each edge. this makes the image look much better. Inside the box is pretty much the same, country appropriate adapter, standard headphone, 30 pin charge sync cable, and “tips”
The iPhone’s physical appearance is virtually identical, hence the “S” after the 4 instead of iPhone 5. the only noticeable differences are; Dual band to reduce the “Death Grip” and a slightly lower mute toggle switch.
Inside the phone it boasts a 1080p camera with image stabilisation, an A5 Dual Core Processor and finally Siri, the iPhone’s version of a personal assistant.
How does it compare the iPhone 4
Well as far as looks – It’s practically the same, If you bought this just to be noticed for having the 4S then you’ll be disappointed. The iPhone 4 is an excellent phone and using it even now we’re very much happy with it, but saying that….. owning the new 4S and then switching back to the iPhone 4, you really can notice the speed difference. Camera quality and of course the lack of Siri.
Would we suggest upgrading from the iPhone 3GS
Most defiantly, software is now becoming more and more powerful, the phones are upgraded to handle this software and the 3GS will struggle to handle iOS5 to its fully capability. I think this would be a worth while upgrade until the re-design of the iPhone 5 which is expected next year around this time of year, hopefully sooner!
Video Quality
This 1080p camera is simply amazing, the depth of field is outstanding for a DSLR let alone a mobile device. The image stabilisation is a big step forward also, on the previous generations there has been none. The iPhone 4′s video was terrible from the hand, one slight bit of movement and it re-created an earthquake. look at the footage below for an example of the iPhone 4s capability, I took this at the London International Technology Show 2011 just last weekend.

Siri
Siri has been from the start a gimmick for the 4S, Typically everyone has been asking it the same questions. There is a lot of potential for this in the future, however with apple we are not sure how long that will be! I have found some genuine uses for it, the main ones are, setting my alarms & booking meetings on the calendar, but once again I would not do this in public as I would feel a prat. As technologies on the other phones & tablets on the market continue to grow, eventually it won’t be so bad. Like when handsfree sets first came into use.
MriOSDevices Verdict
It’s an Apple product, you know the quality is going to be at it’s best. If you have a 3GS I would recommend upgrading, if you have the money I would say upgrading from a 4 but at the end of the day, the 4 is still a brilliant phone. I hope you found this iPhone 4S review useful and let us know your comments
