Apple’s new, unannounced MacBook Pro and iMac have started to pop-up in Geekbench benchmarks over the last few days. MacRumors noticed the new benchmarks in its forums, where a “MacBookPro9,1″ entry surfaced, which suggests it will land as the 2012 replacement for the current MacBookPro8,x versions of the popular Apple Computer.

LuckyCat Microsoft Word For Mac Trojan Found!

Now that Flashback has officially been dealt with (for now), it appears that another trojan is in town to make Macs hide in danger. “LuckyCat” is a backdoor SabPub trojan that also exploits a Java vulnerability, but this time through Microsoft Word. It scurries in through a hole in Word that lets malware spread via documents with the CVE-2009-0563 vulnerability.

“This new threat is a custom OS X backdoor, which appears to have been designed for use in targeted attacks,” says Costin Raiu, an expert from security company Kaspersky. “The backdoor contains functionality to make screenshots of the user’s current session and execute commands on the infected machine.”

Kaspersky, who traced the trojan back to a website controlled from Fremont, CA suspects LuckyCat is intended as a cyber weapon in world politics. Seems it may have been deployed to target Pro-Tibetan organizations, FireEye, Tibetan activists are hit with even more attacks than the U.S. government.

This doesn’t mean that normal users are free from this, far from that to be true, as this has gone public, there should be a patch but who knows, there isn’t as of yet, we will defiantly update! All information here.

Our recommendation, install a Anti Virus like Sophos, until Mountain Lion is released with its built-in Anti Virus, oh and Sophos is free!

What Smart Phone Do You Use?

MriOSDevices want to know what phone you use, doesn’t have to be Apple(but we hope it is), just comment below.

Here at MriOSDevices HQ, Dan uses a 4S, along with Aamir, David and Alex. Rob at the moment is using no phone, however he is looking to get an iPhone 4S.

But what we want to know is, what do you use? iPhone, Windows Phone, Android, Blackberry even?

Maybe your contract is due upgrading, and you think you want a iPhone but you don’t want to pay the premium and you’re thinking of the Galaxy Nexus or HTC One X. They all have bigger screens.. But run Android Ice Cream Sandwich which iOS kicks ass against.

Comment below with what phone you use and what phone you want. Have a great day.

Do You Like The iPad Smart Cover? [Including Exciting Video]

Since the iPad 2, Apple released the iPad Smart Covers, they’re awesome, with a tonne of colors, for you to pimp out your iPad with! But, MriOSDevices want to know if you like them? We love to interact with you guys and see what you think! Comment below.

Design

The design is awesome, but has a few faults, there’s no back cover! Don’t worry though, you can calm down, yes you, SwitchEasy do a back cover, but that is more money to spend on accessories. Another fault is… Apple do not sell the Orange Smart Cover anymore!! UTTER FAIL!

You can still get one from Tesco in the UK, or pick a different color, the blue is nice.

Functionality

The function of The Smart Cover is to protect your screen(obviously) but it cleans and locks your screen when closed also. That’s awesome.

Well, we love them, but do you? Like we said earlier, comment below, we read every comment and sometimes reply, to those special people(yes Bob, that’s you)

Have a great Easter, all who celebrate and check out Adam Matthew’s latest video below and see whats on his iPad!

TweetBot VS Twitter For iPhone!

Tweetbot VS Twitter For iPhone!

For a long time, Twitter has been around, now with everyone on Smartphones, especially the iPhone, there is more choice of applications. The main ones at the moment are Tweetbot and Twitter For iPhone. There is more like TweetDeck etc but we’re comparing these two.

Tweetbot is a paid app, however Twitter For iPhone is free, this could swing you.

Features

  • Clean UI
  • Smart Gestures.
  • Nice Notifications
  • Streaming (when on WiFI with settings to disable it)

That’s just a few features that come included.

Verdict

Well, Rob and Dan use Twitter For iPhone, just because it was really the first Twitter app that was mass used and we’re used to it, with 4.0 its got a great UI and great settings to tweak the amazing app. Lots love Tweetbot but it’s not for us. Tell us your verdict! Comment below.

Updated: iPhone 4S HAS been Jailbroken (Pictures & Video)

UPDATED: @musclenerd has just posted a YouTube Video with the iPad2 running iO5 unetethered Jailbreak. watch it here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJVGl1eRW2A&feature=youtu.be

Just a few minutes ago, @musclenerd has tweeted photos of the iPhone 4s Jailbreak. however he has stated that it’s in the early stages and still need a lot of work!

This is great news for users who had the previous iPhones because since they upgraded to the 4s, many of them lost their jailbreaks

One last bit of advice, do not bother the developers about a release date, they work hard and it is very frustrating for them. they, like us. want it in the public just as fast as  possible! but it needs to be ready and safe for everyone. Just sit back, relax and plan what jailbreak tweaks / themes you intend to install on your iPhone 4s
